The poster is arranged into three color-coded sections:  The Universe, Life On Earth, and Human Prehistory and History. 

The Universe

In this section, four timelines chart the evolution of basic forces and particles in the Big Bang, the birth of stars and galaxies hundreds of millions of years later, the evolution of the universe at large, and the evolution of the sun and its planets.  Each timeline appears to zoom into or out of the next one, to directly compare very different spans of time.  In this way, the poster focuses inward in time, from the 13.7 billion year history of the universe to the last few decades of human history.

Life on Earth

This section traces the evolution of the Earth and life.  Starting with the evolution of the major kingdoms of life over billions of years, the timelines focuses inward in the family tree of life tracing the human genealogy: from animals, to vertebrates, to mammals, to primates, and finally to our hominid ancestors as they emerged over the last few million years.  Each timeline includes a colorful geologic timescale, an evolutionary tree based on the latest research, and short explanations of important events, concepts, and groups of organisms.  Colorful photos appear throughout the poster.

Life on Earth
